Theme Thursday

Theme ThursdaysTheme Thursdays is a fun weekly event, hosted byReading Between Pagesthat will be open from one Thursday to the next. Anyone can participate in it. The rules are simple:

  • A theme will be posted each week (on Thursday’s)
  • Select a conversation/snippet/sentence from the current book you are reading
  • Mention the author and the title of the book along with your post
  • It is important that the theme is conveyed in the sentence (you don’t necessarily need to have the word)

This week’s theme is

"But Job lived in big-farm country, where many men lost a finger to a sickle on a mower or to a spinning auger by the age of thirty-five. They wore baseball caps, given to them by farm-implement or bull-semen salesmen, with promotional slogans like Western Breeders or Snap-On Tools, or simply Case. Men were not pretty in Godsfinger, Alberta."

p10, A Rhinestone Button, by Gail Anderson-Dargatz

  1. Sounds good, I like that snippet!

  2. oh wild, this remind me of a farm visit with a girlfriend. everyone was yelling and running across this huge land of wheat or corn, something. when they all came back to the house, a neighbor had lost his finger on one of the farm apparatus.

  3. Awesome snippet! It really captures the location, the feel, and even the essence of the characters.
