WWW Wednesdays

WWW Wednesdays is a weekly meme hosted by Miz B of Should Be Reading

To play along, just answer the following three questions:
• What are you currently reading?
• What did you recently finish reading?
• What do you think you’ll read next?

What are you currently reading? I'm in between books at the moment, having just finished a couple over the last few days. I've been making my way through half-finished ones I seem to have scattered around the house - still to go is 84 Charing Cross Road, then I'll be able to start afresh! I'm also still making my way through the collection of short stories in An Elegy for Eastery, by Petina Gappah at breakfast time!

What did you recently finish reading? I've just finished The Distant Hours, by Kate Morton and Kamchatka, by Marcelo Figueras. Kamchatka was great - here's an excerpt.

The 10-year-old narrator and his family, including little brother known as "The Midget" were travelling to visit their grandparents :
"The trip to Dorrego passed without incident, given that the Midget slept almost the whole way. There was a reason he was so tired. Mama had got him up to pee three times the night before so that he wouldn't wet the bed. Unaware of this, I had also got him up to go to the toilet when I happened to wake up in the middle of the night, and papa, not knowing mama and I had already done so, also took him to the toilet twice. The Midget had done more walking in his sleep that night than he usual did during the day." p.238

What do you think you’ll read next? Choices, choices - I've got a nice pile of library books which includes The Little House on the Prairie, by Laura Ingalls-Wilder, which I've had a yearning to read of late. But I've also ordered The Help and am anxiously checking the mailbox each day for its arrival.

First though I might read the story of Emily Carr - a famed artist and writer of children's books here in Victoria, as I'm curious to find out more about this woman who has statues, streets and houses everywhere it seems, on Vancouver Island!

  2. My son and I read a few Laura Ingalls Wilder books together not too long ago. It was fun to read them again after so many years.

There's 9 Kim Harrison books - hence why I may never read them all. It was funny that you commented on taking a break from Diana Gabaldon as I have done that as well. I've had Of Breath and Ashes for a couple years but am not ready to tackle it yet.

  4. I'm a one book reader person. I would get to confused trying to read 3 or 4 at a time. My granddaughter loves the Little House books.

  5. Little House on the Prairie will be a fun read. Although if The Help arrives, I suggest jumping into that one the same day you get it!

  7. What a wonderful Year of Books you are having Ann. Your goal is well in sight I'd say. I've just begun reading Joanna Trollope's Daughters-In-Law. Josie passed it on to me.
